Pipex have recently completed the installation of a hypochlorite line on a platform in the central region of the North Sea.
The original system comprised of a plastic lined schedule 40 carbon steel line, which had corroded to such an extent that in places all that was left was the internal plastic liner.
Pipex have reinstated the system using Bondstrand 5000 GRV (Glass Reinforced Vinylester). The Vinylester resin used is one of few piping materials resistant to the extremely corrosive hypochlorite, and as such is ideal for this application.
Due to the nature of the project the Pipex Field Service Engineers fabricated all spools on site prior to final commissioning and hydro test. The new GRV system should out live the life of the platform.
